Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Laura Izibor won Ireland’s 2FM Song Contest at fifteen and signed her first major-label deal with Jive Records in the U.S. at seventeen. The singer-songwriter later moved to Atlantic Records, where she completed her critically acclaimed debut album Let the Truth Be Told, released in 2009.
The album reached No. 2 on the Irish Albums Chart and No. 27 on the U.S. Billboard 200, producing two Top 10 Urban AC radio hits — From My Heart to Yours and Don’t Stay — while her breakout single Shine brought her an international audience across Europe, the U.S., and Japan. A DJ Premier remix of From My Heart to Yours was released in 2008.
Atlantic Records released Brooklyn Sessions, in 2012, a live EP capturing Izibor’s intimate performances.
Izibor has toured and opened for Aretha Franklin, Al Green, John Legend, James Brown, India Arie, and Maxwell. Her songs have featured widely across film and television, including P.S. I Love You, Why Did I Get Married?, The Nanny Diaries, and Grey’s Anatomy, among others. She also appeared on the U.S. television series One Tree Hill, performing her own songs.
Izibor’s artistry earned her a Meteor Ireland Music Award — Ireland’s leading music honour at the time — along with nominations at the Soul Train and MOBO Awards.
