Lavender Bones is a New York City based music project created by Janise Lazarte. The name Lavender Bones comes from Janise’s love for the flower, melded with the delicateness depicted in her songs.
Janise was immersed in music at an early age, starting with piano and moving onto a variety of other instruments, until finally finding her love for guitar. She started writing music in college and played at local open mics. Much of her influences came from the suburban lifestyle of her hometown in Edison, New Jersey.
When she moved to Manhattan after college, she continued writing casually. In 2014, music became a more significant part of Janise’s life. She didn’t realize it at that moment, but this would be the beginning of what would develop into Lavender Bones. Around the same time, Janise formed a band called Until Love with her sister Lindsey and their friend. After the band fizzled out, she started writing more music on her own and finally decided to record songs for Lavender Bones.
