Layonn

LAYONN real name Jonathan Chapuis is an Afro Pop artist born from a Kenyan-Ugandan mother and a Swiss father. He’s living between Mombasa (Kenya) and Geneva (Switzerland). He grew up in Kenya the first 6 years before moving to Switzerland with his family.

Passionate about music since his very young age, he began as a hip-hop dancer and became a teacher at age 16 before becoming a DJ from 2009 until 2014. In parallel, he developed a modeling career and posed for several well-known brands.

He composed his first music at the age of 15, songwriter, composer and performer, LAYONN, big fan of Kizomba music, released in 2015 his first song TOUDOUX, followed by MY FAVORITE GIRL. In 2016, he composed a Kizomba remix of KULIKO JANA, music from the famous Kenyan group Sauti Sol, after posting it on YouTube, it became viral in Kenya. In 2021, he released YOU ARE, a song mainly in Swahili.

For few years, Layonn have been working around big artist like Calema, Soraia Ramos, Elji, Supa Squad in Portugal, co-writing the French version of the song NAKUPENDA for Yemi Alade (on youtube). After getting a good experience working around international artists, Layonn decided in 2021 to come back to Kenya to bring his music in another level.

Currently, he is preparing the release of his new songs during 2022.
