Caleb Matheson, Brendan Olivieri and Sam Stein met while studying sound recording technology at Ithaca College in upstate New York. After discovering a shared love for bands like Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, Elliot Smith and Grizzly Bear, it wasn't long before the three of them began playing music together. Although at first the nature of their collaboration was unstructured, it began taking form in a small batch of songs which the trio recorded for a class project and performed for the first time, as Lazy Bones, at a house show in February of 2017. Quickly making a name for themselves in Ithaca by performing frequently at house shows and school events Lazy Bones began being called upon by established venues in town to open for large acts passing through, including Wolf Parade, Charly Bliss, and Vundabar. After self-recording and releasing three singles (Take It Back, Existential Crisis, Restless Sleeper), Lazy Bones headed to the studio, in January of 2019, to record their debut full length. Jake Mittelman, who had been playing with the band live at shows in late 2018, was officially added to the roster as full-time bassist before recording the album. Since then, Lazy Bones graduated from college, toured the East Coast and Midwest, released three singles from the album sessions (Feel Nothing, Freudian Slip), and moved to Brooklyn. Now settled in the city, Lazy Bones released their first EP in January and has plans to tour in Summer 2020.
