Oakland, California hard rock merchants Lecherous Gaze were formed in 2010 by former Annihilation Time members Graham Clise (guitar), Chris Grande (bass), and Noel Sullivan (drums). After AT's vocalist quit the band, Clise, Grande, and Sullivan began reshaping their sound from their original hardcore-inspired attack to a more complex approach. The band's new direction found them molesting a slew of '60s and '70s hard rock, punk, and metal influences, ranging from the MC5 to Black Sabbath to AC/DC to the Ramones to contemporary rock revivalists like Valient Thorr, with loose, cacophonous, and clearly tongue-in-cheek results. Recruiting vocalist Lakis Panagiotopoulos, the band adopted the new handle Lecherous Gaze, and in 2011 they released their debut recording, a four-track EP prophetically entitled Audio Testament. The EP helped bring them to the attention of Teepee Records, who signed Lecherous Gaze and reissued it eponymously the following year. The same year, a three-way split 12" LP paired Lecherous Gaze with labelmates Earthless and Oregonian arcane rockers Danava. Featuring a new lead singer, gritty howler Zaryan Zaidi, the group's first full-length album, On the Skids, was released in 2012. In 2014, Lecherous Gaze came back harder and louder than before with their second album, Zeta Reticuli Blues, as the group toured throughout the United States, Europe, and Australia. For their third full-length, 2017's One Fifteen, Lecherous Gaze expanded their sound with a dash of prog and psychedelic influences, as well as the addition of second guitarist Zach Dellorto-Blackwell. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia & Mark Deming, Rovi
