As a teen chasing after a dream, a young Lee Whitaker had the opportunity to play sessions with Leon Huff of the Gamble and Huff songwriting force that created the "Sound of Philadelphia". Years later Allen Toussaint recorded a couple Whitaker/Scott songs for one of his artists. These opportunities early in his career provided Lee with some incredible experiences.
Whitaker found success in 2005 when his song "In my Heart is a Well" got extensive airplay on country radio in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Following his European radio tour, the single went to #1 in The Netherlands.
Alabaster Jar, Whitaker's first Christian album was entered in the 56th Grammys for best Contemporary Christian album. He then appeared on TBN, Trinity Broadcast Network. Six songs from the Alabaster Jar CD have spent 100 plus weeks on the National Airplay Gospel Charts including two that hit #1. Whitaker's re-release single,"Prepare the Way" is currently #6 on the National Airplay Gospel Chart and has been in the top 10 for 20+ weeks!
