Leela Misel draws inspiration from her Indonesian-Malaysian heritage to create a unique blend of rock, blues and soul.

Embracing her identity as a cultural nomad, Leela Misel uses her storytelling and catchy melodies to explore the diasporic complexities of feeling "too foreign for home, too foreign for here, never enough for both".

Self-accompanied on guitar and sometimes flute, Leela Misel shines a light on the human condition, inviting listeners on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Her music brings an energizing twist to deeper topics of racism, over population and consumerism.

In 2023, her debut single 'Switch' was included in the Melbourne Semi-Finals of the Australian Songwriting Prize, head by Listen Up Music.

Based in Melbourne (Naarm), Australia, Leela Misel continues to perform both solo and with her backing band across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

You can also find her performing with the popular cover band X-GenZ (vocals, harmonica) along with various blues and rock musicians on flute, guitar and vocals.
