Legendary West

Born Shea Shaun Cullens in 1992, Legendary West was raised in a modest home in Atlanta, Georgia, alongside his parents, late aunt, and three siblings. Music found him early—at just four years old, he was drawn to the beats and lyrical flows that his older sisters listened to, even before he fully understood the culture of hip-hop.

By age five, he began rapping alongside his sister Lori, adopting a lyrical approach far beyond his years. Unlike most kids his age, his lyrics weren’t about candy or playgrounds—they reflected a raw, unfiltered edge. He adopted the stage name Lil’ Dogg, inspired by Snoop Dogg’s influence on his early style.

From ages 10 to 15, he paused his rap journey to focus on school, childhood, and mastering percussion instruments. But at 15, his passion for music production took over. By 16, he returned to rapping with a refined style, taking on the name Young Grip—a nickname given by peers who saw his unshakable dedication to his dream. His lyricism became known for its universal appeal, vivid metaphors, street realism, and hard-hitting punchlines.

At 21, he underwent a creative transformation, retiring the name Young Grip and reintroducing himself as Legendary West—a name symbolizing evolution, maturity, and a lasting impact on music.
