Leighton grew up surrounded by a mother that constantly sang hymns, a father that blared Led Zeppelin, a Tommy Dorsey record of his grandfathers, and an older brother that introduced him to punk rock. Somewhere in the mix he came across Sam Cooke, and learned how to put his heart and soul into the genre fluid music he was writing. Leighton joined his first band when he was 13 years old, and has been traveling, and performing, ever since.
