Leiksvið fáránleikans (or LF) was originally founded in the late 80’s. Bassist and co-founder Harry, the only consistent member since the band’s inception along with singer Jóhann (also of the iconic Vonbrigði) have formed the core of the band throughout its lifetime until Jóhann left in 2021. Initially LF played industrial punk but soon gravitated towards traditional punk rock. With frequent changes in lineup and changing musical interests and directions, LF started to write longer, heavier and dreamier songs culminating in the release of Martraðir (Nightmares) released in May 1996. With core members of the band emigrating during the mid to late nineties, LF did was mostly inactive until 2005 when Ágúst and Sigurbjörn (who played guitars on Martraðir) co-founders Alfred (drums), Harry and Jóhann reunited and started writing new material. Jónbjörn (from Sjálfsfróun) replacing Alfred on drums, LF released Spilliefni (Hazardous Waste) in 2015, a collection of simple, fast paced punk rock songs. With guitarist Gísli (RIP) replacing Ágúst and Sigurbjörn, LF continued playing fast and loud punk rock, laying the foundation for many of the songs on their 2021 release “Killergott” with Arnar on guitar and Jóhann Geir on drums with Jóhann and Harry. Following the release of Killergott LF again had a change in lineup with Álfur now holding the mic and Edvin Thor on drums, LF has reinvented itself again playing pure rock music under strong punk and metal influences the saga continues
