When he was only twelve years old Lenny was already playing music on the streets. As an itinerant musician the blues offered him an exceptional career. At twenty years he played with the great bluesman Memphis SLIM, and by 1975 his first blues band “Mojo Blues” was becoming a serious success.
Lenny was then taken on by the producers “Rhesus Blues” and subsequently played all over France and Europe under his own name “Lenny Lafargue”. At this time his touring led him to play alongside Otis Grant, Diana Gillepsie, Jimmy Johnson, Luther Allison, San Francisco Tour, John Hammond, Lurrie Bell, Louisiana Red, Lazy Lester…
For over ten years Lenny was the backbone of the Bordeaux blues club “The Cricketers”. He jammed with many great bluesmen at this famous venue, sadly missed today.
In 2005 Lenny was nominated for the European Blues Awards in the category “Album of the year”, Blues in the French language, with his fourth CD “A qui parler?”.
Today over 1000 concerts behind him he has a huge stock of songs in classic blues, rocking blues and boogie and it’s offshoots. He widely mixes this stock of covers with his own compositions; his live concerts show him at his best with his versatile and deep repertoire.
