Lento Violento Man is one of the aliases of Italian DJ, producer, and electro mastermind Gigi D'Agostino. A great communicator, too, over the years D'Agostino has invented and baptized many subgenres -- or, better, fake genres -- of dance music, one of them being lento violento (i.e., slow violent), characterized by relatively slow beats and aggressive sounds. The roots of lento violento in D'Agostino's productions can be found in singles such as "Le Serpent" and "Ripassa" and in the compilation albums Il Programmino di Gigi D'Agostino (2003) and At Altromondo, Vol. 2 (2004). From that moment on, lento violento became one of D'Agostino's most recognizable trademarks. In 2007 he released the double compilation Lento Violento...e Altre Storie, which reached the third notch in the Italian charts and sold more than 20,000 copies. Half of the songs in it were credited to Lento Violento Man, the newest of D'Agostino's many musical monikers. The first real Lento Violento Man album, La Musica Che Pesta, followed just three months later. ~ Aurelio Pasini, Rovi
