A call to arms from the 1980’s which has inspired Leon Sapphire to search for virtues in lyricism and words. Starting his musical path in churches and, later on, live venues, spurred a dedication to expression; expressions that were uniquely soulful and conveyed with a calm touch, harsh compassion and rhythmic flow.
Embracing the forms of songs from the likes of olden day Asia and Americas, to the present day Leonard Cohens and Gil-Scott Herons of the world, the soulful sounds of his bass and psalms seek to inspire younger versions of himself and to leave a mark in Malaysia’s historical music tapestry.
