Leonie Mac is an independent Australian singer/songwriter. A bourgeois bohemian with a creative streak that runs deep, her eclectic style draws on many musical influences such as pop-rock, ambient, world, electronic, emo, and the Bristol sound. If you like Kate Bush, Lana Del Ray, Halsey, Lorde, Billie Eillish, Sarah McLachlan, Annie Lennox... you'll appreciate Leonie Mac.
Growing up in Sydney's Western Suburbs, Leonie was smuggled into nightclubs by her older sister when she was only 12. These influential years paved the way for her interest in the music industry and she started performing in her teens. Since then, life has given her plenty to write about. She has been terrorised, raided, suffered an attempted home invasion, and more! It has been the power of music and writing that has helped her to ride life's ups and downs.
In the late 1990s she was signed to Alberts, Australia's oldest and most successful independent recording company, and was the first solo female artist the iconic company had ever signed to their label. She has also received funding from The Australia Council for the Arts, won accolades for lyric writing, and was recorded and filmed by Radio JJ in her early days for their Band of the Week compilation album. 30 years on, she continues to write and record as an independent artist. Her latest album, entitled M, is the one she longed to create, and succeeded thanks to co-writer, programmer and engineer - AUDIOTHRILLSEEKER.
