Lex LaFoy

Lex LaFoy is a dynamic South African rapper, writer, and creative project manager from Durban. Starting her career as a battle emcee and performance poet under the name Lexikon, she made waves in the hip-hop scene, earning a nomination for Best Female and Best Mixtape at the South African Hip Hop Awards in 2012.

Lex gained recognition in the music industry with her debut album Honey Bass in 2017, receiving praise from major platforms like AfroPunk and OkayAfrica. She has performed internationally, including the Purple Velvet tour across Europe in 2014, and has appeared on popular South African TV shows such as Muvhango and Hustle.

Known for her versatility, Lex has ventured into TV production, radio hosting, and community-focused initiatives. She founded Peace4, an NPC aimed at fostering unity and peace in areas affected by violence. In 2023, she released The Lexikon 2.0 Project, her seventh album, and was featured in the #SamsungOpenVerse Challenge, supporting South African Olympic athletes.
