Lexicon of Sound

Colm Fitzpatrick's musical career spans five decades, beginning in 1987 when Colm joined Dublin band Hey Paulette. Releasing a number of well-received singles between 1988 & 1990 on independent label Mickey Rourke's Fridge. Early singles ‘Commonplace’ and ‘I Really Do Love Penelope’ remain popular to this day and have appeared on several well-regarded compilations of 80’s Independent Music. In 1989 they recorded a session for John Peel's BBC Radio show before the band came to an end in 1991. A collection of singles, radio sessions and rarities entitled ‘Long Ball Into Nowhere’ was released in 2005 by Firestation Records. In 1993 Colm joined another Dublin band The Sewing Room who released two albums and an EP for the independent record label Dead Elvis. ‘And Nico’ was issued in 1995 with ‘Drugfree EP’ following in 1996 before second album ‘Sympathy For The Dishevelled’ appeared in 1997. The Sewing Room also recorded a John Peel Session for the BBC in 1996. The band finally came to an end in 1999. The 2000’s saw Colm working with Budapest/Dublin based musical collective Villa R, releasing two albums on independent label Disques Fridge. ‘Songs From The Apex’ was released in 2006 and ‘Blown Cadence’ followed in 2015. In 2018, having fulfilled a long-held ambition of building a recording studio in his Dublin home, Colm embarked on a new musical project entitled Lexicon of Sound which combines his love of ambient music with his ability to create innovative and inspiring sounds.
