Noah J. Bauer and Brian Chindblom met on their first day of school at North Park University in Chicago. Within minutes of saying goodbye to their parents, they ditched freshman orientation to play guitar and sing together. LIDA was formed a week later.
On a fateful August night, the two played a concert in the dorm room of one of their new friends: Trent Cairns. Cairns, already a classically trained trombonist, offered to learn the bass and join LIDA. He learned ferociously and was playing shows with the group less than a month later.
The three young students played all across Chicago in basements, bars, classrooms, hooka lounges, and school dances. By the end of their first semester, they recorded and released their first two EPs -- recorded off an iPad in Cairns' dorm room.
In the coming months, the trio became fast friends with multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and producer Caleb Bowron -- who offered to produce the group's third EP. By the time they had finished recording the project, Bowron became a member of LIDA as a guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, and producer.
Four years later, all the members have graduated from North Park, and the quartet is still rocking and recording across the Midwest.
