After several years leading the Riot Grrrl influenced and national DIY referent band Hello Cuca, Lidia Damunt reinvented herself as a singer-songwriter in 2008. She released two albums with clear country and folk influences: “En la Isla de las Bufandas” (Subterfuge 2008) and “En el Cementerio Peligroso” (Subterfuge 2009). But throughout her entire career she hasn’t stopped changing and exploring different musical territories. She’s been coming closer and closer to pop music – she has collaborated with artists such as Hidrogenesse, “Vigila el fuego” (Astrohúngaro 2012), and has released a purely electronic single, “El túnel” (Austrohúngaro 2018). She founded her own label and released a covers album, “Gramola (Tormina Records 2014) and also her album “Telepatía” (Tormina Records 2016) – a return to folk with hints of punk.
Damunt’s latest work "Nacer en Marte" (La Castanya 2019), has clear R&B influences and retro-futuristic sounds. This is her most pop oriented record, and the truest to date. A perfect album where Lidia Damunt is shown as a restless and mutable artist as well as a close and reflective being.
