light motiv is a dream-pop/indie rock project that crafts its own melancholic yet warm sound, blending hazy guitars, ethereal atmospheres, and elements borrowed from shoegaze and slacker rock. The project made its debut in 2019 with the independently released Fluid EP, followed by DIORAMAS in 2021 under TAMAR RECORDS. In 2024, light motiv released its third EP, KOY, through SHALGAM RECORDS. Earlier this year, the project took a surprising turn with the release of Geçen Günler Düşen Yapraklar Gibi, a bossa nova-influenced EP that serves as a pause in its discography.
While all production, recording, and mixing is handled by Sarp Öztürk, the live lineup features Durukan Betses on drums, Mert Sarıkaya on second guitar, Oğuz Akyüz on keys, and Ozan Emre Keser on bass. Continuing to deliver dynamic and immersive live performances, light motiv is set to release several new singles in 2025, exploring the fringes of different genres.
