Unapologetically defiant with a rebellious dazzle of romanticism that is nostalgic in style, Tommy Lloyd (lead vocals/guitar) and Luke Caro (drums) flaunt their rebellious cantor and elixir as Lip Candy.
Lip Candy took a leap of faith when then boldly decided to move to Los Angeles in the midst of the pandemic in hopes to remind the music scene why bands are so iconic. After taking over the Sunset Strip's most iconic venues, they realized something truly imminent; ‘Pop Rock’ has made a comeback in the mainstream music scene. However, there was an prevalent issue; as they realized that it was almost all just ‘solo artists’ doing it; there were barely any local bands. After their epiphany, Lip Candy got inspired to write and record their debut EP, which extensively covers their journey thus far in the catastrophically unwavering streets of Los Angeles, and the current unvarnished state of rock music in honest expressionism.
Surgically precise, yet cheeky and playful, it’s shrewdly intentional; cautionary nods to coping mechanisms so easy to cling to are set to the throbbing backbone of polyrhythms and infectious melodies, whilst swaggering basslines with fever dream synths juxtapose anxiety and resolution to create an atmosphere for catharsis in one moment – and unease the next, thus reminding the music scene of how rock should sound and feel, as we all try to figure out ‘Where Did All The Bands Go?’
