Lisbon were an alt-pop band from Whitley Bay, UK, known for their shimmering guitar lines and infectious melodies. Formed in Whitley High back in 2013 by school friends Matthew Varty, Joe Atkinson, Gaz Turkington, and Alex Wright, the band quickly made waves with their debut single "B L U E L O V E", which was championed by the likes of Huw Stephens and Greg James on Radio 1 as BBC Introducing's Track of the Week.

Their debut EP Life is Good—recorded at the iconic Rockfield Studios—featured fan favourites like "Rio" and "Natïve", and marked a high point in a run of sold-out UK headline shows and memorable festival appearances. Lisbon built a passionate following through their energetic performances and anthemic choruses. Recordings at Abbey Road and Maida Vale followed, producing hits such as "Vice" and "Tyler".

The band quietly went their separate ways in 2017. There was no official announcement at the time—it was a tough period, and, in their own words, “we didn’t deal with it very well.”

Today, the members remain close friends and look back with immense gratitude. To the fans: "thank you for the ride—you made it all worth it."
