Lead singer/acoustic guitarist Daren Sears and guitarist/singer Craig Forster first met in Tunbridge Wells based band Clamdiggers. When the "Clams" called it a day in the early 2000s, Daren and Craig continued to collaborate, now as an acoustic duo, under the working name Little Fish. After writing new songs and performing several shows, the pair were keen to get together a full electric band to expand the dynamics of their sound. So they recruited Mike Wadham on drums and Joe Wadham on bass to form the first full Little Fish Big Pond line up. In 2002 the band went into the studio to record debut album In the Can. This included live favourites Doing The Right Thing, Radio Friendly and Rebound Boy.

Eventually Mike O'Hara joined the band to take on bass and after more songwriting and gigging the band recorded and released their second album, C.O.D. in 2004, containing favourites Five Minutes More, Silicone Barbie and Good News, amongst others.

When drummer Mike left the band due to his relocation abroad, the band continued to perform acoustic shows while searching for a replacement. Eventually Martin Webber, the former Clamdiggers drummer, joined them and in 2008 they recorded and released third album Eye Candy.

The band continued to write new songs together and captured 4 of these: Cafe Grand, Accidentally Beautiful, Dust and Bones and You Don't Care, on their Fish Flakes EP.
