Breakthrough R&B artist Llay brings his fusion sound to modern music.
Known for his sensuous, moody blend of, hip-hop, afrobeat, trap, the Portuguese singer-songwriter delivers honey-tinged R&B vocals over brooding beats. Mixing Latin influences with English and his native tongue, Llay’s starlit, half sung/half rapped flow is a mesmerising listen, with enigmatic swagger and romantic bravado hinted at in his lyrics.
Born in Guinea-Bissau with Cape-Verdean origins, Llay was raised in London where he began singing as a child, before performing at small venues and night clubs in his teens. In 2016, Llay’s band ExL racked up over 2 million YouTube views on their debut single, ‘Vou te Pegar’ ft. DJ Waldo, landing them a slot at one of Europe’s biggest AfroLatino festivals. Llay later released his debut solo single, ‘Toca No Meu Body’ ft. DJ Pausas, leading to global features and performances.
Drawing influence from artists like Michael Jackson, The Weeknd, Omarion, Chris Brown and Bryson Tiller, Llay’s confident fusion of genres and cultures is setting him apart on the global scene.
