LO18 is musician and studio engineer Kari Lounela, who lives in Tampere, Finland. As a member of UULU, a cultural cooperative of ethnomusicologists, he is involved in promoting musical interaction and blurring the roles between performers and audiences. Uulu and Kari Lounela work within a large field of genres: Finnish folk music traditions, several music cultures from around the world, experimental music, (semi)acoustic ambient, pop and indie/alternative music. In his own time, Lounela has worked with Finnish acts Piski, Puk, Körttinä and Cucumber Farmer, providing guitars, composition and/or producing. The debut album Maa was released by Disco Gecko on July 6th, 2018. Next releases are scheduled in mid 2025.
