Logistical Nightmare is a three piece progressive metal act based out of Gilbert, Arizona. With influences ranging from progressive pioneers such as Pink Floyd and Rush to modern acts including Native Construct and Dream Theater, they strive to defy musical conventions and refuse to adhere to any single genre. Despite broadly self-identifying as a progressive metal outfit, Logistical Nightmare has been noted for the abundance of unusual musical undertones present in the group’s output, including alternative metal, art rock, jazz and post-rock. This varied style provides listeners with numerous unexpected twists and turns.
The group’s inaugural 2019 EP, Hail! The Shattered Veil, demonstrated this eclectic stylistic blend, which was further expanded upon on the group’s debut full-length album, Scorched Earth, where they began to incorporate extended instrumentation such as trumpet and oud.
As soon as they Scorched the Earth, they returned to the studio, and began recording for their sophomore album, a double album called As The Dog Returns. Made up of 13 tracks that incorporate their signature stylistic blend with new ambient and electronic elements, As The Dog Returns subtly explores themes of desolation and addiction through its lush soundscapes, heavy riffs, and progressive song structures. The band has released three singles ahead of the album: House of Mirrors, Leads Us Astray, and Hang Our Heads. ATDR released September 2nd, 2022.
