Loka' is a south Sulawesi based musical collective formed by Juang Manyala & A Reza Grenaldi in mid 2016. The collective started as a soundtrack project for a critical acclaimed documentary movie "Silent Blues of the Ocean".
Due to their needs in percussive musical exploration, they both recruit the local young talented musician MuhfirAlena as a drummer. Together with Sigi Muin and other additional players (Ukka Manyala, Hadinata, Fransiscus Ferdinand, Arif Fitrawan, Hendra Dinata, and Muh Iksan) they finished the original soundtrack for the movie. Or some might say their EP debut ( Silent Blues Of The Ocean (Original Soundtrack) ).
As their music evolve, Loka’ also expand in member. Now the collective have Daniel Mailangkay as a bassist, Kevin Gonsaga in keys, Dralls who manage synth & sequencer, and also Ian Hamzah as the singer.
On February 14th, 2021, LOKA` has digitally release their first full-length album Simplisitas. Which was celebrated through a concert in the cinema on the night before. One of its single, Tuai, released in January 2020, succeeded to attract the attention of Indonesian music scene and was featured on several lists of the best releases in the same year.
Loka' have been described by some as a rock-jazz-noise-esque experimental band. But, they (Loka') just called their music "pop"- in their own way.
