Lionel "Lonny" Ziblat published his 1st solo album in 2011 after debuting a revolutionary Prog Rock album in 2010 with his band Modest Midget. 'The Great Prophecy of a Small Man' started as a one-man initiative and evolved to a band of extraordinary musicians. It was unanimously embraced by critics worldwide. Lonny took the genre one step back in order to trace back it's long lost original spark.
What typifies Lonny's music is the fact that it seems simple, perhaps even innocent, yet it consists of an abundance of rich hidden layers. Ziblat avoids at all costs the modern, often "overly produced sound" - in his own words, thereby offering a forgotten, more humane & raw approach, without compromising his established compositional skills. His debut as a soloist - Songs From The Drawer (2011) is a perfect example of this. ‘Khalom’ (2012) was his first album recorded entirely in Hebrew during his work on his Modest Midget album.
He has worked with different artists, arranging music for - among others - the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Jonathan Jeremiah, Omar Mollo & Wouter Hamel, and he regularly composes soundtracks for TV & film.
“…A pure, honest record, which is just a bit better than the Modest Midget debut”. Stefan Sjoers (Music Maker, NL)
"…[Lonny] makes the kind of songs you immediately fall for; honest, pure pop songs, straight from the heart and with a great underlying yet never too pushy muscial talent". Edwin Ammerlaan (Revolver's Lust For Life, NL)
