Uplifting, empowering, and raw, Lor Golden is a rising star from Cameroon with an underlying gift to craft authentic lyrics derived from her experiences as a woman.
With influences from artists like Destiny’s Child, Richard Bona, Henri Dikongue, Charlotte Dipanda, Kendrick Lamar, and Erykah Badu, Lor discovered her passion for music at a young age. Art consumes her. Dance, songwriting, and theatre shaped her childhood - allowing a momentary escape from the harsh realities of sexism and discrimination that infect her country.
Fueled by an underlying desire to inspire female empowerment through the universal language of music, Lor fuses Hip Hop, Afro Soul and R&B with Cameroonian rhythms like Makossa, Bend-Skin or Bikutsi to create a unique sound. Since the release of her debut project “Dawn”, her songwriting skills have been widely appraised.
The EP of 7 tracks received positive reviews and was described by Stillac as “an album the exudes freshness", where she "managed to send strong messages, but above all to transmit emotions through her particular voice timbre".
With a new album in the works, Lor is on her way to becoming an undeniable presence not only as an independent artist, but also as a dedicated activist and industry trailblazer.
