Local Chicago indie rock band, Land of the El Caminos (aka LOTEC), the 3-piece led by lead guitarist/front-man and songwriter, Dan Fanelli, has persevered through many Chicago winters, four studio albums, several US tours, and one long ‘hiatus’ before finally setting foot in the new frontier.
Fanelli (lead guitar, vocals), (longtime drummer) Kenny Wallin and relatively new addition, Chicago rock veteran, Sean Hulet (bass), don’t complicate things on Squares, their fourth full length. The new record isn’t a massive departure from LOTEC’s core sound or key messages. Every song is like opening a suitcase you packed years ago to find everything in it still means something. The band’s collective talent perpetuate the tenderness and raw emotion of their previous recordings and live performances, only enhanced by a more mature and sophisticated sound.
