Born in the Lyon suburb of Venissieux in 1978, French-Martinique vocalist Louisy Joseph left school at the age of 15 to pursue her musical ambitions before landing a place in L5, the girl band that formed on France's first series of Popstars in 2001 and went on to score a chart-topping debut single and album before disbanding five years later. Eschewing the bubblegum sound of her former outfit, Joseph went on to pursue a fusion of soul, acoustic pop, and reggae for her Pascal Obispo-produced 2008 first solo effort, La Saison des Amours. After supporting Christophe Maé on his European tour, she teamed up with producer Jean Lamoot (Alain Bashung) and duetted with Jason Derulo on her 2012 sophomore outing, Ma Radio. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
