Born in Austin, TX to a Dutch mother and Texan father, Louk grew up surrounded by an active and inspiring musical environment. He began studying saxophone at the age of 12, focusing on improvisation and eventually graduating from the University of Texas Jazz Program.
During his final year at UT Louk formed <a href="spotify:artist:42gnrsSSKKNNmfAJ0o3oyN" data-name="Soul Food Horns">Soul Food Horns</a>- a collective of recording horn players/producers. Their studio collaborations with artists like <a href="spotify:artist:5nYfBUxnHtI6LAp32fl9qY" data-name="Netherfriends">Netherfriends</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0vXy3lcUbZxuQtOaIEww4D" data-name="Mathien">Mathien</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:5EjKjFGvMmVUGCfAyDY2lG" data-name="Cloudchord">Cloudchord</a> helped the group become an established a recording entity.
In 2017 Louk moved to Amsterdam indefinitely- continuing to record/manage Soul Food Horns remotely. Since then he has collaborated often with Dutch producers <a href="spotify:artist:1axdL80XjVHdInGsJbURyt" data-name="Yasper">Yasper</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5wEF5my54dE5vMMmSUz2q3" data-name="Glimlip">Glimlip</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6nJ2MPazBFrwU07sGCpdcO" data-name="DESH">DESH</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:33mF58EgWRWcLJWIddSH7h" data-name="delaney.">delaney.</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1CYfML6hZtnvqIZbdcXE6E" data-name="Afroham">Afroham</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:577LqVym5apGTXsJmuXA3b" data-name="Papi Thereso">Papi Thereso</a> (etc.).
In 2020 he founded Cole Slaw Records, a production collective and label that focuses on the intersection of Hip Hop and Jazz.
