Lova Mpagnesa est auteur-compositeur-interprète. A travers son single Maika Maika, il tisse une folk transcontinentale où la guitare baryton à 8 cordes rencontre le chant en malagasy. Inspiré par les harpes des Hautes Terres de l’île rouge, mais aussi par la bossa, le classique et le folk gasy des années 60–70, son univers mêle syncopes du ragtime, résonances celtiques et mémoire gasy, héritée d’une île à la croisée de l’Afrique et de l’Austronésie. Installé aujourd’hui à La Réunion, il prolonge cette organicité créative dans une musique feutrée, de métissage et universalité.
Lova Mpagnesa is a singer-songwriter. Through his single Maika Maika, he weaves a transcontinental folk sound where the 8-string baritone guitar meets Malagasy singing. Inspired by the harps of the Highlands of the Red Island, but also by bossa nova, classical music and Gasy folk from the 60s and 70s, his world blends ragtime syncopation, Celtic resonances and Gasy memory, inherited from an island at the crossroads of Africa and Austronesia. Now based in Réunion, he continues to develop this organic creation in a hushed, intimate folk of cultural fusion and universality.
