New York-based synth pop outfit Lovelife rose from the ashes of the U.K. indie rock band Brother, also known as Viva Brother, which split in 2012, midway through the recording of their second album. Vocalist Lee Newell, drummer Frank Colucci, and guitarist Sam Jackson moved to New York and started Lovelife later that summer with former Mirrors keyboardist Ally Young. After self-releasing an EP (El Regreso) for free on their website in 2012, they signed with National Anthem Records, toured the U.S., and released another EP (Fourth Floor) at the end of the year. In 2013, they released the double A-side single Your New Beloved/Dying to Start Again for their new label, Neon Gold Records, scored support slots with Capital Cities and the Neighbourhood, moved to Los Angeles to record their first album, and capped off the year with another EP, Stateless. They returned early in 2014 with the Feel EP. ~ Scott Kerr, Rovi
