LOVVS (‘lows’) is the electronic/New Wave-inspired project of Kory Westerhold. Inspired by the sounds and textures of the early 80s, and working with other artists from the Bay Area—including dark-pop artist Lyrah and drummer Jason Slota (Tune-Yards, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down)—LOVVS’ music is written and performed primarily on vintage synthesizers and drum machines, blending sounds normally associated with musical eras-past to create something fresh and new. With sweeping synths, live drums and percussion, and sharp, sometimes cheeky lyrics, its music to help remind you to keep dancing until the world ends.
LOVVS debut album, Modern Culture, is out in June 19, 2020. It was mixed and recorded by Beau Sorenson (DCFC, Sparklehorse, Titus Andronicus) and mastered by Matthew Barnhart at Chicago Mastering.
