Low Dead Space is a rock / punk band that plays battle hymns for the drug war and funeral dirges for a dead planet. We’re on a mission to survive the stolen ghost town that’s trying to kill us: Vancouver, Canada. With too many friends and loved ones killed by the drug war, we write music as mournful and angry as we are. Straight off the barricades, Die in Vancouver EP is our first release. Formed in 2022, we have an opioid analog sound and write guitar heavy anthems of resistance; ballads for lost comrades and lost causes; sad songs for survivors. Moody music if you’re in a bad mood. Our sound is an unplanned mix of Jawbreaker, Radiohead & OG ‘90s punk rock with a little ghost cowboy music coming in over an old shortwave radio. We played International Overdose Awareness Day in the intersection of Main & Hastings. Cops were holding their ears. We’ve played legal defense fundraisers for jailed activists. We’ve all been in bands before: James Ash was in I Spy and Big Bad. Garth Mullins was in Lumpin Proletariat and Work to Rule. Mikey was in Big Bad and Quiet Kids. Sam Fenn was in The Joint Chiefs of Math. We’ve all written music for the award-winning Crackdown podcast (about the drug war in Vancouver). We record and rehearse on the stolen lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Wautuh Nations.
