Lower Expectations

Lower Expectations is an Alternative Rock band from Rochester, NY featuring Keegan Johnston (Vocals/Guitar), Matt Poole (Bass), Phil Vanchieri (Guitar), and Matt VanAllen (Drums/Vocals).

Blurring the lines of genre, we take inspiration from a wide range of influences that spans from Rush to Taking Back Sunday to The Front Bottoms and everything in between. Our songs channel relatable human experiences and struggles, presented with a signature low vocal tone over driving alternative rock. Our sound has been compared to The Ataris, Say Anything, and Manchester Orchestra, though we aim to constantly redefine ourselves musically.

We broke onto the scene in June 2018 with the release of our debut EP "High Hopes" and followed it with our 2nd EP "Talking to Myself" in March 2022. Lower Expectations has big dreams but at end of the day is a band about having fun with the people you love and connecting with others through music.
