After spending three years in Berlin's vibrant underground scene, playing bars and stages in various band settings, singer-songwriter Albin Andersson [SE] met up with vocalist and bassist Hanna Magdalena Gödl [AT] in 2017 to form Loyal Liar—A band project built upon Andersson's passion for somewhat unorthodox chord progressions in the style of Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens or The Beatles. Following the singer-songwriter tradition, the songs often start out with a core of vocals and guitar, slowly building up into a bigger sound consisting of bass, guitars, keys, drums and mellow synthesizers. The live setup ranges from a minimalistic setting of three people up to a six piece band.
Most of Loyal Liars music is recorded at nighttime in a little home studio that is located in a small wooden attic flat in Gothenburg with squeaking floors and roof windows. This cosy setting creates a serene atmosphere that is palpable in Loyal Liars music.
