Inspired by the novel, “On the Road” by Jack Kerouac, Lucas Dalton dropped out of Seminary school at age twenty and began hitch-hiking across the U.S.
Taking nothing with him but five hundred dollars, a few pairs of clothes and his guitar, Lucas sharpened his songwriting and performing craft while busking for loose change in Dallas, New Orleans, Minneapolis, and several other cities.
The positive reaction people had to his music eventually caused Lucas to press pause on his “voluntarily hobo” lifestyle, and relocate to Nashville, Tennessee to make music his singular focus.
After a few years in Music City and several near-misses with the likes of Dan Auerbach, David Ferguson, and Mark Wright (coming close to signing a record deal with all three), Lucas ultimately realized that he was better suited as an independent artist.
He’d become frustrated with the ultra-slow progress and the feeling of being bottle-necked by record industry professionals. So, he decided to cut all Nashville ties and make his debut record alone.
Lucas moved back to his home town in Oklahoma, locked himself in his bedroom and wrote, recorded, performed, and produced his first album entirely on his own.
