“Even most modern psychedelic sad songs fit into what sounds like California Psych Rock. But Lucid Lynx defies these expectations, bringing a fresh breeze of doom and darkness to the genre. And it seems to be working.” - Rob Beatty (Boston Hassle)
Amidst the busy, fast-paced urban scene of Boston, Lucid Lynx came from an unlikely meeting of four college students with an appreciation for languid, atmospheric jams that contrasted the high energy grooves that reflected their surroundings.
Drawing as much from the celestial soundscapes of <a href="spotify:artist:0k17h0D3J5VfsdmQ1iZtE9" data-name="Pink Floyd">Pink Floyd</a> as the psychedelic wailings of <a href="spotify:artist:776Uo845nYHJpNaStv1Ds4" data-name="Jimi Hendrix">Jimi Hendrix</a> and bombastic fury of <a href="spotify:artist:36QJpDe2go2KgaRleHCDTp" data-name="Led Zeppelin">Led Zeppelin</a>, Lucid Lynx channeled their love of ‘60s & ‘70s progressive psychedelia along with an affinity for catchy, modern psych-pop hooks to craft their own sound full of wall of noise guitar riffs and drums, trance-inducing groovy bass lines, and memorable melodies.
Taking their fierce yet hypnotic sound to a live setting, Lucid Lynx has continuously surprised and impressed audiences across the US, even sharing the stage with the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:30uiS1n3uIGXJEYFR1GVDy" data-name="The Brian Jonestown Massacre">The Brian Jonestown Massacre</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0AI2um3PpFgOj7Yzmk2Xu0" data-name="Dead Meadow">Dead Meadow</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:7GRrLcUxwtQLvOpO7OHO80" data-name="Psychedelic Porn Crumpets">Psychedelic Porn Crumpets</a> to name a few.
Having as much passion for their live performances as for lush and experimental production, their songs are filled with a variety of synthesizers, percussion instruments, and even an electric sitar, all packaged together with the help of producer and good friend Dennis MacKay (Bowie, Phil Collins, Jeff Beck).
