UK artist Lucky gained an interest in rap music and started rapping at age 13. He often refers to himself as the “Best” and cheekily claims that he is “unrivalled” in his area with “no competition”. Lucky mostly raps on his songs in a laid-back and relaxed tone. Listeners get the impression that he is “unbothered when he raps”.

Lucky describes his style as “raw and rhythmic” with an “old school vibe”. Lucky likes to go against the grain. Instead of your conventional adlibs, Lucky uses onomatopoeic vocables to compliment his vocals, for example, “uhhh” or “Yo” at the beginning of “Test My Luck (Blackjack)"

Growing up Lucky listened to a range of artists from all eras. He says he draws most of his inspiration from UK artists such as Nines, Potter Payper, DVS, Rimzee and many more. US artists such as Biggie Smalls, Jadakiss, Styles P, Sheek Louch, Nas, Jay-Z and 50 Cent all had an impact on Lucky’s musical style. He says he was “Destined to rap” as he was drawn to these artists and impressed by their flows at such a young age, often attempting to mimic them.

Lucky would sometimes stray away from his usual style. On "Hatton Garden" from his debut mixtape ‘Test My Luck Vol.1, he sang the hook in a laid-back fashion. He modified his flow to suit the up-tempo, afro-swing style beat. The song "No Cap" also from his debut mixtape "Test My Luck Vol.1" also features Lucky dropping some light vocals on the hook, rapping in a melodic style.
