Lucky Yu is the solo project of Asian American and Los Angeles based producer & songwriter, David Yu. Inspired by the experimental pop sounds of Caroline Polachek and FKA Twigs and the genre-bending productions of Sega Bodega and Mura Masa, Yu's sound is a unique blend of ethereal electronic beats, soothing vocals, and sharp textures.
Raised in Austin, Yu started his musical journey at the age of six as a classically trained pianist. However, it wasn't until his post-teen years that he began exploring production as he found himself constantly returning to music as a safe space and yearned to build a world that transcended the traditional boxes he was raised to live in. Fast forward to 2023, after years of honing his craft, Yu is set to release his first singles and debut into the electro-pop landscape.
