Luna Pier are a rock and roll band from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Founded in 2021 by University of Michigan roommates Alex Calderwood and Dexter Kaufmann, the group gained popularity through their live shows and unique sound, described as “an eclectic mix of contemporary indie and energetic punk-rock”.
As the band grew, so did their lineup, with each additional member contributing a new sonic texture. A trademark of a Luna Pier concert is an ongoing game of “musical chairs”, in which members will switch instruments depending on the song. Similarly, every member contributes vocally, creating a Beach Boys-esque vocal blend to accompany their rock instrumentation.
