Lunar

Initially formed in Taiping, Perak, Malaysia, in February 2021, Lunar is a genre-bending pop indie band that consists of 4 members: Hazeeq Hilman (vocals and guitar), Ayjie (vocals), Cyrill (drums), and Naim (saxophone). Lunar had previously released three studio singles that they produced themselves: 'semesta' in 2021, "where is love?" and "seketika" in 2022. The band rose to prominence following the release of “where is love?" and “seketika" in 2022.

The musical delivery of Lunar is greatly inspired by the sounds of Malaysia-Indonesia archipelago pop, Pop-Soul, and funk. For instance, Francissca Peter, Utha Likumahuwa, and Chrisye serve as examples. However, Lunar aims to bring these sounds with a more modern and fresh twist to resonate with the new generation. To infuse the old sounds with a more modern and fresh vibe, Lunar has also drawn inspiration from newer bands like BLASTER, Coldiac, Bilal Indrajaya, and Ardhito Pramono. For the band itself, they have always brought up a wide variety of music genres. With songs that contain some pretty catchy choruses and hooks, a melancholic synth-line, a and sexy saxophone-line.
