Join me as I sing through the hymns of the Lutheran tradition and we praise God together. These hymns have served as a bedrock of Christian faith for many generations. The music ranges in date from medieval through modern day and is sung as intended- with only vocals and harmonies so you can understand and join in praising. If you didn’t grow up singing these, someone else certainly did - and for hundreds of years. Sometimes it helps to strip away all the extra so you can just hear God’s message, so here we have taken away the organ, acoustic band, booming choir, and rambling improvisations. What we are left with is music filled with scripture and prayers, which you will find to be spirit-filled and illuminating in your journey of faith.
I hear God in music, and the scripture and holy wisdom in these songs is something that should be easily accessible to people on a daily basis. I received a hymnal for my Confirmation and I started singing- each vocal part was required and every lyric, that the music of centuries past could come to life. Opening this project has been like turning the pages on a rainbow, each song comes in a burst of light and I am hit with the earnest faith of the composers and lyricists. They wrote these songs for you and us, that we might know God better through song and go about our days humming, whistling, and singing to God. I am invigorated by a zeal that will not let me to rest until this work is complete, so in the meantime join me in my project.
