Luxury Funeral is a New York & New Jersey space metal quartet. While Luxury Funeral are establishing themselves in the east coast metal scene, the members are no strangers to each other. Vocalist Jason ‘Prkr’ Sherman (<a href="spotify:artist:4vjvkB9BUPLu3DhzSjdICI" data-name="Torrential Downpour">Torrential Downpour</a>), bassist DJ Scully (<a href="spotify:artist:2X4wsrdaQps1Ts5jJkeG9u" data-name="So Hideous">So Hideous</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4mGa145Sm7SUToFZmqJy2d" data-name="Black Table">Black Table</a>, The Number 12 Looks Like You) and guitarist John Bryan (Manu) have worked creatively and performed together for almost a decade in <a href="spotify:artist:5Emt0dAKBSCeEaPAhynRm3" data-name="Dead Empires">Dead Empires</a>. With that time together comes a strong bond and a connection that is reflected in the music, but with the addition of drummer Corrado Rizzi (<a href="spotify:artist:0Xu6JSAcjLhD7dQ5IzUVlD" data-name="John the Gun">John the Gun</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6GROViy0db0AGtPPc9ybQu" data-name="Franchise">Franchise</a>) this lineup has elevated their songwriting, honed their sound, and found new musical inspiration.
The first two years of the band were often tumultuous between illness, depression, welcoming children into the world and the inevitable scheduling of it all. But the band never lost focus of their goal of creating music that combines elements of hardcore, sludge metal, progressive technical bits, jazz grooves and whatever else they want to do with introspection, big volume and a sense of humor that honors influences including <a href="spotify:artist:4kRYDoAbgDL7nqeqZhJlA3" data-name="Botch">Botch</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4XpPveeg7RuYS3CgLo75t9" data-name="Deafheaven">Deafheaven</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2zq0uqN9Wq12tqrQQt1ozw" data-name="Mr. Bungle">Mr. Bungle</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:75U40yZLLPglFgXbDVnmVs" data-name="The Mars Volta">The Mars Volta</a>.
The band will be releasing songs recorded at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, NJ and engineered, mixed and mastered by Kevin Antreassian (<a href="spotify:artist:7IGcjaMGAtsvKBLQX26W4i" data-name="The Dillinger Escape Plan">The Dillinger Escape Plan</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:11YhymLrmHxQsN7cynBfEL" data-name="The Sawtooth Grin">The Sawtooth Grin</a>), and will be on tour with <a href="spotify:artist:4unEoSS4pL1FkJaY2EyjoK" data-name="Loss Becomes">Loss Becomes</a> in November 2024.
