Lydia Ford always dreamed of being a pop star, but growing up on the west coast of Ireland, the industry felt out of reach. With no clear path, she took matters into her own hands—writing songs in her bedroom, self-releasing music, and building her career from the ground up.
After moving to New York, she found herself surrounded by artists who treated music as more than just a passion. Inspired, she began sharing her own songs, playing open mics, and pushing past the imposter syndrome that had held her back. Without a label, she took full creative control—designing her own artwork, handling her marketing, and funding her records independently.
Her DIY approach led to a steady rise, earning national airplay in Ireland, recognition from BBC Radio 1, Billboard, and Uproxx, performances at Other Voices and Ireland Music Week, and placements on Made in Chelsea and Spotify’s New Music Friday playlists.
In 2023, she released her debut album, Faking It, a deeply personal yet universally relatable record about self-doubt, resilience, and the feeling of figuring things out as you go. Now, with new music on the way in 2025, Lydia continues to shape her own creative vision—writing, designing, and releasing on her own terms.
She’s not waiting for permission. She’s making music the way she always has: by trusting herself.
