Maanyung

Maanyung is an artist with a clear mission in mind: To spread values of respect and care for ourselves, our communities, and Mother Earth. With strong ties to Gumbaynggirr and Yaegl nations, Maanyung sings in his ancestors' language; his own method of preserving tradition in today's fast-paced world. While still in the early stages of his music journey, Maanyung has already graced stages from Dark MoFo to Melbourne Fashion Week, where his emotive and powerful vocals have captivated audiences.

Maanyung uses traditional instruments like boomerangs in his music, but his sounds also incorporate acoustic guitar and piano, sweeping synths and electronic influences; creating a unique fusion that pulls from both old and new. Working with seasoned producer Andy Mak (Vera Blue, Tina Arena, Megan Washington) has seen Maanyung diversify and enhance his sound, creating songs that cross genre and geographical borders. Beyond music, Maanyung is a storyteller at heart, and seeks to create an environment of understanding with all who listen.
