Divisive, perfectly imperfect, and beautifully abrasive—this is how Brisbane/Meanjin-based songwriter and producer Jon Marsden describes the music of his project, Maarjn. Unbound by genre, Maarjn’s sound exists in a space between the delicate and the chaotic, drawing from a vast palette of influences that range from alternative folk americana to experimental rock and ambient electronica. With his follow-up to the intimate, alternative folk debut 'Vacant Eyes,' Maarjn took a bold turn, releasing the dark and brooding experimental rock/pop track 'An Epilogue.' Maarjn made it clear that it would be difficult to place him inside of a single genre. Not one to do much talking, Maarjn prefers to let the songs speak for themselves, allowing audiences to connect with and interpret the music in their own way. Now more than ever, Maarjn aims to challenge the boundaries of popular music by embracing the beautiful imperfections of being human in the modern world.
