Maddee Ritter is a Juno-nominated singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist born and bred in Toronto’s east end. Ritter brings a grounding playfulness and honesty to both their music and the spaces they move through. Their approach to instrumentation, melody, and arrangement is intricate, thoughtful, and highly intentional, blending and bending the genre-binary with folk and indie rock with threads of soul and jazz, resulting in a distinctly timeless sound that feels deeply their own. As a dreamer and a romantic, Ritter writes music that feels like coming home, poetic and personal, yet still familiar and easy to step into.
After debuting with their 2019 EP Red Mind, Ritter earned acclaim from publications such as Now Magazine and GAY TIMES, and performed at festivals including SXSW and Field Trip.
Following a long post-COVID hiatus, they released their debut LP Songs of Love and Death, which received a Juno nomination for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year within its first three months. They’ve become a regular presence on multiple CBC segments, and are known for their captivating powerful vocals, and high-energy live performances—most recently at Junofest and as a headliner for Toronto’s 2025 Pride Festival.
Ritter now splits their time between Los Angeles and Toronto, working on new music and preparing to release a series of singles while building toward their sophomore album.
