with her head in the clouds and her feet firmly planted on the stage MADOUX is the musical alias of Lotte Slangen, an indie artist from the south of the Netherlands. Her name is inspired by “madu”, the Estonian word for snake a symbol of transformation, mysticism, and feminine power. Balancing on the edge of the visible and the invisible, MADOUX dances between vulnerability and strength, clarity and chaos.
Her sound is a delicate collision of dreamy alt-pop, acoustic warmth, and cinematic shimmer, music that feels like a soft memory. With a voice that lingers, she draws inspiration from artists like Fleetwood Mac, War On Drugs, Wolf Alice, and Daughter blending nostalgia with something quietly new.
Since her 2021 debut EP Leave Me Blind, MADOUX has been telling stories for the outsiders and the overthinkers. Her 2023 release Anywhere delves into the feeling of wanting to escape in daydreams, “whenever I’m in my own headspace and a bomb went off, I probably wouldn’t even notice,” she admits. But on stage, she’s a different force magnetic, raw, and electric.
MADOUX has opened Pinkpop 2023, supported Curtis Harding, and was named one of the breakout acts of Popronde 2024. With two new live singles Make Me Forget and Optimist on the horizon and a debut album in the works, 2025 is already unfolding as her most transformative chapter yet.
