MADOUX is the musical alias of Lotte Slangen, a Dutch artist from Maastricht. Her name is a French twist on “madu,” the Estonian word for snake. For someone who calls herself a dreamy scatterbrain, she’s remarkably clear about where she wants to go with her music.
MADOUX creates dark and dreamy alt-pop, blending acoustic instruments with electronic textures and a voice that lingers long after the last note. Inspired by artists like Fleetwood Mac, War On Drugs, Wolf Alice, and Daughter, her sound feels intimate with a touch of nostalgia and a cinematic edge.
She made her debut in 2021 with the EP Leave Me Blind, followed by ‘’Anywhere’’ in 2023. ‘’Anywhere’’ explores the feeling of being an outsider, lost in daydreams, a recurring theme for MADOUX, who has always been a dreamer. “If a bomb went off, I probably wouldn’t even notice,” she says. On stage, however, she can be explosive herself. Highlights include opening Pinkpop 2023, supporting Curtis Harding, and being named one of the breakout acts of Popronde 2024.
With two live singles on the way and a new album in the works, 2025 is set to mark an exciting new chapter for MADOUX.
